Luverna E. Kramer, 86, of Le Mars passed away suddenly Sunday, March 2, 2008 at her home in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the United Methodist Church of Le Mars with Reverend Jason Larson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends after 6:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitations will continue Wednesday afternoon at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Casket Bearers: Doug Van Voorst, Mike Habben, Rick Messelhiser, Brian Poeckes, Chris Kramer, and Chad Kramer.

Luverna Ella Mae Kots was born December 21, 1921 in Maurice, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Adrianna (Schuller) Kots. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. She attended school in Maurice and graduated from Maurice High School.

She was united in marriage to Henry Kramer on February 12, 1943 in Maurice, Iowa. The couple farmed near Hudson, South Dakota and later on a farm near Maurice. LuVerna was a homemaker for her family. In 1980, they retired from farming and moved to Le Mars. Henry passed away in May of 1988.

Luverna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Le Mars. She loved gardening and flowers. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and did many crafts and woodworking projects. She liked to cook and bake bread. She also enjoyed doing word searches. She will be greatly by missed all who knew her.

Survivors include her 7 children: Glenda Habben and her husband Gary of Le Mars, Margaret Koerner of Le Mars, Arlene Luft and her husband Larry of Le Mars, Henry Kramer and his wife Sharon of Ireton, Iowa, Sharon Poeckes and her husband Paul of Remsen, Iowa, Leland Kramer and his wife Diane of Seney, Iowa, and Twilla Kramer and her special friend Chad Kluver of Le Mars; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Marjorie Swisher and her husband Bill of Westfield, Iowa, and Lorna Koel and her husband Del of Winifred, South Dakota; a brother: Darwin Kots and his wife Marlene of Yoder, Colorado; sisters-in-law: Tena Kramer of Ireton, Iowa, Geneva Kramer of Sioux Center, Iowa, Leona Kots of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Lorraine Bainbridge of Kingsley, Iowa; and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; a grandson: Brad Van Voorst; a sister: Helen Chance; 5 brothers: Nelson Kots, Orville Kots, Lloyd Kots, Virgil Kots, and Marvin Kots; and a son-in-law: Melvin Koerner.
