G.J. (Jay) Kramer, 65, died suddenly on March 1, at his farm home.

Services were held on March 4 at the American Reformed Church at Valley Springs, South Dakota. Burial was at Valley Springs with the Holm Funeral Home of Luverne in charge of arrangements.

He was born to John and Jennie Kramer on March 19, 1917, near Sioux Center. He helped his parents on the farm until they retired.

On February 23, 1945, he was married to Annie Gorter at Rock Rapids. They farmed near Rowena, South Dakota; Ashton, Iowa; and Luverne, Minnesota before settling on a farm in Minnesota near Garretson, South Dakota. At the time of his death, he was serving as deacon at the American Reformed Church at Valley Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Annie; three sons, Garry and Dick of Garretson and Glen of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Alice Haan of North St. Paul, Jennie Lou Kramer and Evelyn Engelbretson of Sioux Falls, and three grandchildren, DeAnn and Amy Jo Haan and Paul Kramer; one brother, Martin, of Sioux Falls, and eight sisters; Hattie Monster of Sheldon, Winnie Monster of Rush City, Minnesota, Elizabeth Van Duyn of Colton, Jennie Johnson of Sioux Falls, Henrietta Paulson of Valley Springs, Alice Park of Colman, Marge Harmelink of Rock Valley and Mary Ann VanDer Vliet of Hull.

He was preceded in death by one infant, a four-year-old son, Paul, his parents, and four brothers, Gerrit, Henry, Albert and Phil who died just ten days prior.
