Died: October 25, 1988Mrs. Henry (Evelyn L.) Klein, 80, formerly of Granville, died Tuesday, October 25 in Millie’s Rest Home at Sutherland after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with the Reverend Robert W. Gralapp officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.
Mrs. Klein, the former Evelyn L. Kreber, was born July 29, 1908 to August and Clara Gukeisen) Kreber. She was raised and educated in the Granville area. On January 15, 1929, she married Henry Klein at Granville. The couple farmed near Granville and moved into town in 1968. They retired in 1970. She had resided at the rest home in Sutherland since July 30, 1984.
Mrs. Klein was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the church guild, Christian Mothers and Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include her husband, Henry J. Klein of Sutherland; a son, James A. of Granville; two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Clara) Croatt of Aitkin, Minnesota, and Mrs. Mary Colwell of Hanover Park, Illinois; her mother, Mrs. August (Clara) Kreber of Orange City; three brothers, Clarence, Arnold and Francis, all of Granville; four sisters, Mrs. Ed (Irene) Schlichte of Alton, Mrs. Urban (Helen) Holles of Granville, Mrs. Eleanore Britton of Madison, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Elmer (Viola) Nelson of Cherokee; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, August, and one sister, Mrs. Richard (Mary Jane) Meis.
