Died: April 5, 1986Peter Klein, 92, of Hospers, died Saturday, April 5, in a Sheldon Hospital.
Services were at 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 7, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers. The Reverend Thomas Hart officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Hospers. The rosary was recited Sunday in the Church.
Klein was born January 12, 1894, in Mendota, Illinois, and came to the Hospers area with his parents. He married Mathilda Robinet on January 27, 1921. The couple farmed northeast of Hospers in 1952. Mrs. Klein died December 26, 1964.
He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and served on the parish board. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Reuter post 423 American Legion. He had also served on the Farmer’s Coop Elevator board for 30 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Schnurr Sr. of Sanborn, Esther Gergen of Alton, and Rosella Croatt of Hospers; three sons, Gerald and Jerome, both of Hospers, and Arnold of Paullina; one sister, Mary Stremlau of Mendota; one brother, Lawrence of Hospers; 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
