Theodore J. Klein, 91, of Granville died Sunday, February 26 in the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City after a lengthy illness.

Services were held Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with the Reverend Robert Gralapp officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Mr. Klein was born April 14, 1897 in Granville to Theodore and Elizabeth Simon Klein, and was raised and educated in the Granville area. He married Frances Kokenge January 16, 1922 in Alton. The couple farmed near Granville until retiring and moving into town in 1956. He had lived at Heritage House Nursing home in Orange City since 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; three sons, Marcel and James J., both of Granville and Merlyn of Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Verna) Bunkers and Mrs. Gerald (Clarice) Roder, both of Granville and Mrs. Eugene (Lois) Wiltgen of Carlsbad, California; a sister, Miss Celia Klein of Adrain, Minnesota; 35 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas; eight brothers and sisters.
