Russell S. Westcott was born on March 8, 1906, in Deloit, IA, the son of H.H. and Julia Eister Westcott. He died Sunday, June 16,1985, at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, IA, at the age of 79. Russell spent his formative years in the Deloit community. He received his formal education in the Deloit schools. He was baptised in the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in December of 1916. On October 28, 1925, Russell was united in marriage to Louise Nissen in Denison. Together they made their home in Boyer. In 1943 they moved to Craig, IA. They moved to Hawarden in 1957 where they lived until Louise died in March of 1984. Russell than moved to Centerville to live with his son Lee and his family. Russell was employed by -the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for forty-four years.

In addition to his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by one brother Leslie, three sisters, Edna, Jennie and Leda, and one great-grandson Michael. Survivors include his son Russell Lee and wife Delores of Centervilie, I A, four grandchildren, David, Lori, Candee and Michelle, and two great grandchildren, Ember and Ashby, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 19, 1985, at 1:30 p.m., at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Interment was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Elder Michael Smith officiated at the services and graveside rites. Glenn Rankin as organist with Henry Henningsen as soloist provided music for the services. Hymns included "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "In The Garden". Serving as pallbearers were Melvin Osterlund, Louis Osterlund, Lome North, Lonnie Kropf, Lyle Kropf and Glenn Nissen. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, IA.
