Maria Lynn Yates, 15, of Ireton, died Saturday, July 20, 1985, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident early Saturday morning in rural Plymouth County west of Le Mars. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Peace Lutheran Church, rural Rock Valley. Rev. Ron Nelson officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Miss Yates was born July 30,1969, in Sioux Center. She was an honor student at the Sioux Center Community School, a musician active in band, swing band, swing choir and mixed chorus. She was a cheerleader and a member of the flag corps and Future Homemakers of America.

Survivors include her parents, Stan and Alice Yates; three sisters,, Mrs. Barry (Teresa) Vande Pol of Hawarden, Mrs. Dan (Cynthia) Reid of Sioux Center and Mrs. Allen (Lisa) Vanden Brink of Hawarden; and maternal grandfather, Roland Peterson of Hawarden
