Mrs. Olive Jones, for forty-three years was a resident of Hawarden, passed away very unexpectedly about 7 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. A. Drew to whose home she had gone a few days before for a brief visit. She had apparently been in her usual health and her death was a great shock to her relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Associated Church in this city Tuesday afternoon and burial was made in the family lot in the Ireton Cemetery. The Rev. R. J. Cornell, pastor of the Associated Church, conducted the services.

Olive LaTisha Hone was born August 16, 1852 in Sheperton, Middlesex, England, and so was in her seventy eighth year. She was confirmed in the Episcopalian church, Church of England, when a young girl. At a young age she came to the United States with her parents who first settled at Ripon Wis. In December of the year 1880 she married Joseph Jones and some time later moved to Iowa, as did the parents, and engaged in farming in the vicinity of Ireton. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were the parents of five children, four of whom survive. They are Pearl Gilman, Walter A. Jones, Mrs. Maude Boggess, all of Hawarden and Harry R. Jones of Osakis, MN.

Jones is survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Will Hone of Alcester, S.D. and Charles Hone of Sheldon, IA; and two sisters, Mrs.E. A. Drew of Hawarden and Mrs. L. Freeman of Minneapolis, MN.

Her husband died about 40 years ago and the responsibility of raising the family of four little children depended upon this earnest, faithful hard working woman, who met life bravely in spite of obstacles and hardships. She was a kindly woman, always trying to make others happy. Her last thoughts were of others for she had gone to her daughters home to help her with some work.

Mrs. Jones came to Hawarden about forty three years ago and had been a continous resident of this city ever since. She was a long time member of the Hawarden Congregational Church. She loved her family and her friends. Her death came by a few months after that of her brother, Jesse Searle Hone, who passed away last June.

The following out of town relatives came here to attend the funeral; Harry R. Jones of Osakis, MN; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hone of Alcester, S.D.; Mrs. and Mrs. Chas. Dreves of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Drew of Marshall, MN; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shuck of Sergeant Bluff, IA.
