Mrs. Martha Jones, (Hudson's oldest resident) died Friday, May 3, 1946. She celebrated her 99th birthday April 3.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Hudson on Monday of last week. Burial was in Hudson Cemetery. Mrs. J. G. Benson of Hawarden, and her daughter, Mrs. Frank Cable of Chamberlain, S.D. attended the services.

Martha Watts was born in Burlington, England, April 3, 1847. She came to America when 10 years of age. Her parents had come here two years earlier, leaving her and two other children in England. The uncle accompanied these three children to New York.

She was married to Fillis E. Jones at Elkader. After her marriage she lived at Cherokee, and at Portland, (now Akron), and came to Eden, (now Hudson) in 1880.

Mrs. Jones was active until last year when she fell and fractured her hip and then three weeks before her death she fell and fractured her hip again. Her last injury caused her death.

She is survived by one son, George D. Jones of Los Angeles, CA; and three daughters, Mrs. Hazel De Bar of Minneapolis MN, and Mrs. May Ferris and Mrs. Leo Cable of Hudson, S.D.
