Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church at Hospers at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, for Johan Kreykes, 92, a resident of Hospers community since 1889, who died at the Sheldon Hospital Sunday after a brief illness.

Services were conducted by the Reverend C.R. Veenstra and burial was made in the Hospers cemetery with the Vander Ploeg’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kreykes was born in Holland April 25, 1870 and immigrated to America in 1889 at the age of 19. He was married to Ella Aardema at Hospers December 17, 1896. The couple resided on a farm near Hospers for many years until retiring and moving into Hospers.

Mrs. Kreykes passed away November 14, 1952.

Survivors include four sons, John William of Sheldon, Henry of Sheldon, Arie John of Chicago and Marcus of Sheldon, two daughters, Agnes (Mrs. Gerrit Van Surksum) of Sheldon and Harriet (Mrs. Henry Kuiper) of Hospers; 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arie J. Kreykes of Orange City.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son and one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
