Herman Cornelius Moret was the son of Michael Moret and Minnie Luymes Moret.

Upon reaching adulthood, he began a sixty year banking career as cashier at the First National Bank of Sheldon.

On October 10, 1916, he married Ethel Florence Koolbeck at Hospers.

A few years later, they moved to Orange City, where Mr. Moret became associated with the Northwestern State Bank. In 1960, he retired as vice-president, but served several more years as a member of the bank’s board of directors.

In October of 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Moret became residents of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

Mr. Moret was a member of the American Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as both elder and deacon. He was a former member of the boards of directors of the Orange City Municipal Hospital and Northwestern College in Orange City. For many years, he served as treasurer of the City of Orange City.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; daughter, Mrs. William (LaVonne) Eyres of Santa Rosa, California; son, Mitchell of Superior, Nebraska; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters.
