Died: July 9, 2008 Sheldon, Iowa

Margaret I. Klein, 92, Hospers, died Wed. July 9, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

Services were Sat. July 12, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers, with Revs. Douglas Klein and John Vakulskas officiating.

Burial was at the Church Cemetery, under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Margaret Klein, daughter of Joseph and Louise (Langenhorst) Steichen, was born Sept. 20, 1916, in rural Alton. She was raised in the Alton area and recieved her education at St. Mary's Academy in Alton.

She married Lawrence Klein on Jan. 7, 1946, in Alton. They made their home near Hospers, where they farmed. They moved to a farm near Lismore, MN. in the late 1940. They returned to the Hospers area to farm in the early 1950's. They retired and moved into Hospers in 1979. Mr. Klein died Jan. 21, 1993.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers, the church Guild, and Christian Mother's Sodality.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlepoint and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Roger and Rhoda Klein of Sioux Center, Walter and Doris Klein of Hospers, and Lyle and Diane Klein of Hospers; three daughters, Janice Klein of Hospers, Marlene and John La Martiniere of Fayetteville, NC. and Eileen Klein of Marshall MN; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Caroline Klein of Paynesville, MN.

She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Klein in infancy; a great-granddaughter, Zara Johnson in infancy; two sisters, Celesta Steichen and Viola Steichen; and a brother, Earl Steichen.
