Sister Oda Klein, 96, Dubuque and formerly of Alton, died Thursday, December 4, at Holy Family Hall Infirmary in Dubuque, IA.

Services were Saturday, December 6, at Mount St. Francis Chapel in Dubuque. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of Hoffman-Schneider Funeral Home in Dubuque.

Oda Klein, daughter of Jacob and Cecilia (Goebel) Klein, was born August 1, 1907 in Alton. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1928, and made her final profession of religious vows on August 10, 1934. Sister Klein taught in Iowa and Illinois. She also served as associate superior.

Survivors include three sisters, Sister Tresa Klein, Agnes Klein, and Mary Ann Penning; a sister-in-law, Luella Klein; and the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 74 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Penning; four brothers, Lawrence Klein, Leo Klein, Henry and Evelyn Klein, and Nick Klein; and a brother-in-law, Julius Penning.

Memorials may be directed to the Sisters of Mount St. Francis in Dubuque.
