Verne Lewis, 66, of Hudson, SD, died Monday, April 22, 1985, at his residence in Hudson after a long illness. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the United Church of Christ in Hudson,. Rev. Ronald NussWarren officiated. Burial was in Eden Cemetery under direction of Porter Funeral Home in Hudson.

Mr. Lewis was born October 27, 1918, in Murray where he attended school. He farmed for several years at Osceola. He married Clara Brown Sept. 29,1953, in Omaha. He worked in the construction business in Osceola until 1965 when they moved to Hawarden where he farmed. They moved to Hudson in Sept. 1971 where he was employed as a policeman for ten yean and later was a self-employed contractor.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Blake and Tom Lewis, both of Hudson; one brother, Gene of Des Moines; one sister, Evelyn Town of Indianola; and two grandchildren.
