Mrs. Joe (Elizabeth) List, 95, of Alton died Saturday, July 30, at Happy Siesta Retirement Home in Remsen after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Mrs. List, the former Elizabeth Henrich, was born October 5, 1892, to Nicholas and Gertrude (Kass) Henrich, at Alton where she was raised and educated. She taught rural school in the Granville area for several years prior to her marriage. On June 24, 1912, she married Joe List at Alton. The couple farmed near Granville and retired to Alton in 1950. He died January 19, 1960. She had lived at Happy Siesta Retirement Home since May 1985.

Mrs. List was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Rosary Society of Alton and Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters of Granville.

Survivors include two sons, Melvin and Ray, both of Granville; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Edith) Delperdang of Remsen, Mrs. Melvin (Esther) Reuter of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Brady of Marcus and Mrs. Eldon (Mildred) Ruden of Le Mars; 59 grandchildren; 160 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
