Funeral services were held from the First Baptist church of Sioux Center at 10 a.m. Tues. Nov. 9, for the Rev. H. E. Ketcham, pastor of the First Baptist church since 1958, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Sat. afternoon following a brief illness.

Services were conducted by the deceased's brother, the Rev. Robert Ketcham of Chicago and burial was made Wed. in the Memorial Gardens at Waterloo. Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Ketcham was born Jan. 19, 1885 in Pennsylvania. He was married to Rose Ann Carpenter in Dec. of 1904, and to this union seven children were born. She preceded him in death in 1955, as did one daughter, Martha.

On Jan. 19, 1957, Rev Ketcham was united in marriage to Claudia Carpenter at Waterloo.

She survives him along with six children; Leonard of Arlington, VA; Rev. Leyman Ketcham of South Hampton, MS; Charles of Battle Creek MI; Mary (Mrs. Sam Athens) of Williams CA; Pauline (Mrs. Charles Blackburn) of Evansville, IND; Shirley (Mrs. Donald Rice of Bon Air, VA.

Also surviving him are 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Robert Ketcham of Chicago; and one sister, Grace Canavan, of Elmira, N.Y.

The Rev. Ketcham was in the ministry for more than 50 years. He was pastor of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, IA, between 1946 and 1949, served as minister of the Hagerman Baptist Church at Waterloo from 1949-1958 and had been pastor of the local Baptist church the past seven years.

Pallbearers were Gilmore DeGoei, Raymond Boone, George Dorhout, Wendell Dorhout, Donald Dorhout, Harvey Steinborn.
