Death of Mrs. Dick Koel

Mrs. Dick Koel, a brief account of whose death was given last week, was born August 28, 1871, in Perins, Netherland, where she spent her early years and grew to womanhood. She died at her home southeast of Rock Valley October 4, 1910 at the age of 39 yeas, 1 month and six days. Her last illness was over a year's duration, her death being caused by catarrh of the stomach and other complications.

The deceased came to America in the year of 1894, coming directly to Sioux county where she had lived up to the time of her death. Two years after coming to Sioux county she was married to Dick Koel. To this union nine children were born all of whom are left to mourn the untimely death of their mother.

The deceased was a woman much beloved by all who knew her. She was a kind and loving mother and an affectionate wife. Besides her nine children she leaves to mourn a husband, an aged father, Adranus Struik, who made his home with his daughter, and three sisters, Mrs. Langstraat, Mrs. John Van Otterloo of Rock Valley and Mrs. Rensink, of Perins, Netherland.

Funeral services were held in the Reformed church at Carmel Thursday, last week, conducted by Rev. Kots, of Carmel, assisted by Rv. J. DeJongh and Rev. Huizenga of Rock Valley. The services were largely attended by sympathizing friends.
