Funeral Home Obituary, Abt. March 14, 2008

Rock Valley, IA - Gladyce Miller, 89, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Hegg Memorial Hospital, Rock Valley. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Rev. Jim Demke will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday until 5 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home and 7-8 p.m., with family present at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Gladyce was born March 30, 1918, at Rock Valley, daughter of James & Mable (Griffen) Vander Poel. She graduated from the Rock Valley Public High School She married Alvin Miller on July 2, 1940. After WW II, Alvin managed the Farmers Lumber Company and Gladyce was the bookkeeper there for many years. Alvin died on April 28, 1984. Gladyce moved to the Four Seasons at Rock Valley in January of 2005.

Gladyce was survived by two sons, Gary (Donna) Miller of Rock Valley; Dan (Sandy) Miller of El Cajon, CA; 4 grandchildren, Troy Miller, Alisa (Dennis) Turner, Alex Miller, Pasha Miller; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Noah and Caleb Turner; special friend, Alie Vande Hoef of Rock Valley, sister-in-law, Bertha Miller of El Paso, TX.
