From the Rock Valley Bee, September 23, 1910: Plato Township news:

The infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. John Harsmen[sic] died Saturday morning of whooping cough. Funeral services were held Sunday evening at Lebanon. They have many friends who sympathize with them in their bereavement.

[This is presumably John Harmsen, who the 1910 U.S. census shows living in Plato Township (age 53, born Holland, immigrated 1867, farmer), with wife Aaltje (54?), sons Mirndest[?] (20), Walter (18), Jacob (13), George (9), and Albert (7) and daughters Lizzie (17), Susie (15), Alice (11), Grace (5), and Jennie (2). A similar death notice in the Alton Democrat, Sept. 24, spells the surname Harmsen.]
