Arta Hofmeyer, 95 Orange City died Friday August 17 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Services were Monday, Aug. 20, at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Burial was at Newkirk Cemetery in rural Hospers, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Arta Hofmeyer, daughter of Louis and Allie (Klein) Van't Hof, was born Oct. 24, 1905, in rural Alton. She was raised in Newkirk. She married Frank De Graaf in Hospers. They farmed in Newkirk. He died Jan. 6, 1931 in rural Alton. She then moved into Hospers, where she was a telephone operator. She married Jacob Hofmeyer on July 26, 1939, in Hospers. They made their home in Orange City. She was a homemaker and cooked at a cafe her husband operated. Mr. Hofmeyer died May 13, 1980, in Orange City. She became a resident of Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City on Feb. 24, 1997.

She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she participated in women's organizations, taught Sunday school classes and sang in the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress.

Survivors include a son, Audley and Helen De Graaf of Hartley; a step-daughter Arlene and Arthur Vander Pol of rural Hospers; three granddaughters; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bernard Van't Hof of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank De Graaf and Jacob Hofmeyer; five brothers, Gerrit, William, Henry, Louis and Albert Van't Hof; and a sister, Harriet Wierda.
