From the Rock Valley Bee, August 19, 1910: Grant Township [Sioux County] news:

A very sad and sudden death occurred in our midst last Monday. Mr. Elvin F. Clark while stacking his straw from the threshing machine assisted by his two little boys was suddenly overcome by the heat and exercise. He said to one of his little boys that he was "all in" and started down. He slid down the side of the stack to the ground and expired immediately without uttering a word.

The funeral was conducted at the Brethren church Wednesday afternoon by E. A. Rolstan and interment in the Sheldon cemetery. Mr. Clark was 42 years of age and leaves a wife and seven children all of whom are under 15 years old. He also leaves a mother and sister living in California and one brother living here in Sheldon.
