Death took John, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Rochus Schelling at 8:15 Tuesday night, June 1, at the home of his parents 11 miles west of Sioux Center. His early passing followed 11 months of illness, the aftermath of a siege of scarlet fever a year ago, which resulted in a heart ailment.

He bore his long sickness with great patience and fortitude and was conscious until the end. Beside his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Cornelius, Henrietta, Alyda, Emma, Gilbert, William, Joan and Jean, all of whom are at home. Four brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
