Born: June 5, 1877 the Netherlands
Died: April 12,1949 Hospers, Iowa

Gerrit Hofmeyer of Hospers, Iowa passed away Tuesday, April 12, 1949 at 5:45 in the afternoon. The departed had been a hospital patient for several weeks and suffered paralytic strokes.

Mr. Hofmeyer was born in The Netherlands, June 5, 1877. At the age of 5 he came with his parents to the U.S. settling at Orange City. A few years later the family moved to Alton and shortly after to Hospers. There Mr. Hofmeyer grew to manhood and there he married Rena Boersma who with 4 children survive; Herman of Primghar; Wesley and Harry of Hospers and Lola, Mrs. Edw. Van Surksum of Hospers; Surviving also are 5 sisters and 4 brothers; Mrs. Hattie Van Oort of Sheldon; Mrs. Dena Sneltjes of Newkirk; Jno Hofmeyer of Sanborn; Mrs. Martin Boersma: Mrs. Mike Foreman and Wm. Hofmeyer all of Hospers; George Hofmeyer of Sibley; Mrs. Gt. Vander Schaaf of Newkirk; and Jacob Hofmeyer of Orange City;

Two sisters and 1 brother preceded him in death; Nellie, Mrs. Minnie Brinkhuis and Dick Hofmeyer.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church of Hospers Friday with Rev. H. Eggink and Rev. Gt. Doctor officiating. Interment was made at Hospers, IA.
