John Jones, a former resident of Hawarden vicinity and father of Herbert Osterday of Alcester passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Shriner at Colton, S.D. and the body was shipped to Hawarden today for burial in Grace Hill Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the Ross Funeral Home with Rev. J.W. LaGrone, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge.

John Jones lived on a farm southeast of Hawarden many years ago. His wife passed away over thirty years ago and shortly after her death he moved to Hawarden and made his home here for a time. He then moved to Castana, Iowa, and later he went to Canada where he continued to make his home until last fall when his daughter, Mrs. Shriner, persuaded him to come and make his home with her as his health was failing him. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Shriner and son Herbert Osterday, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Bert Smith and Mrs. Earl Sprague and one other son John Jones.
