Suzanne M. Vande Weerd, 87, of Rock Rapids, died Wednesday, June 28, at the Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 30, at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with the Reverend Cliff Hoekstra officiating, with burial at River View Cemetery, under the firection of Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

Suzanne M. Vande Weerd was born June 13, 1919, in Ireton, to Chris and Johanna (Wynia) Van Schepen. As a young child, she and her family moved to a farm near Hull and she attended school in Boyden. She married Cornie Vande Weerd on May 7, 1940, and they lived in Hull. In 1943, they moved to Rock Rapids where later they owned and operated K&F Implement in Rock Rapids. Suzanne worked as bookkeeper for their business. Her husband died in 1991. She moved to Premier Estates Retirement Community in Rock Rapids in 2000. She entered the Rock Rapids Health Centre in 2003. She was an active member of Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together to various places across the country.

She is survived by two children; Judy Van Driel of Rock Valley and Byron "Bub" and his wife, Jean Vande Weerd, of Rock Rapids; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin "Charlie" Van Schepen of Hull; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornie Vande Weerd; a son, Carl Vande Weerd in 2005; a son-in-law, Bob Van Driel in 2004; and a great-grandson, Blake Van Driel.
