Hawarden Independent, May 15, 1952

Ireton, IA - Military services were held for George Morrison of Hot Springs, SD at the Presbyterian church here Friday afternoon, Rev. J. Boyd Stevenson officiating.

George Harrison Morrison, son of Alexander & Mary Morrison, was born February 1, 1888, at Ireton. He had been in ill health and has spent the past eight years in a Veterans Hospital at Hot Springs,SD, spending the summer months with his relatives here. A short time ago he was taken to the Yankton hospital where he passed away on May 6, 1952. Death was caused from pneumonia and a heart ailment.

George was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Bertram American Legion Post of Ireton.

He was one of 12 children, of whom three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving him are four sisters, Mrs. F. W. Schuette of Ireton; Mrs. B.B. Vande Water of Parker, SD; Mrs. Margaret Lemonds of Sioux Falls, SD, and Mrs. Jane Houlton of Rock Valley, and two brothers, John J. of Sioux City and Alex of Montrose, SD. Also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends mourn his departure.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of the Satterlee Funeral service.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Irwin; Mrs. Margaret Lemonds; Mr. & Mrs. Earl Lemonds; Miss Ethel Lemonds; Mr. & Mrs. Harry Warner; Mr. & Mrs. Louis Sesseler, all of Sioux Falls; Alex Morrison of Montrose, SD; Mrs. Burt Van De Water of Parker, SD; Mr. & Mrs. John Morrison; Mr. & Mrs. Cornie De Raad and Mr. & Mrs. John Fredericson of Sioux City; Mrs. Jane Houlton and Ione and Mr. & Mrs. Ray Woolridge of Rock Valley.
