Hawarden Independent of March 7, 1985 replace temp

Arlene Scott Cotter, 62, of Hawarden died Sunday, March 3, 1985, in a hospital in Akron after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Bob Hamel officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron.

Mrs. Cotter, the former Arlene Talsma, was born June 16, 1922, in Alton. She had lived in Hawarden since the age of nine. She was a member of the American
Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, La Von Heubrock of Gifford, IL; two sons, Robert Scott of Hudson, SD, and James Scott of Westfield; three brothers, John of Hawarden, Elmer of Sioux City and Ray of Waco, TX; a sister, Evelyn Boyles of Hancock, MN; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson. Preceding her in death were her father, John Talsma; her mother, Minnie Van Meveren; and three sons, Sgt. James Scott, Vietnam, 1967; Lawrence Scott, 1972; and Denny Scott, 1978.
