Henry Van Bemmel, 75, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his home in Rock Valley, after a courageous journey with cancer.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Friday at First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Rev. Gene Vis will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday with the family present 6:30-8 pm at Porter Funeral Home.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; children, Gene and Daris Van Bemmel; Bonnie and Harm Wiersma; Verlyn and Sandy Van Bemmel all of Rock Valley; Susan and Jeff Hoekstra of Sioux Center, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, Kristi and Rodney Wierenga, Jill and Ross Van Baren, Rachel, Jessica, and Marisa Van Bemmel, Carisa and Brent Maassen, Ryan Wiersma, Nolan Wiersma, Evan and Sarah Wiersma, Stephanie Wiersma, Alyssa and Greg Anderson, Katie Van Bemmel, Austin Van Bemmel, Caleb, Dylan, Seth, and Ethan Hoekstra; 5 great-grandchildren, Lanae, Mackenzie, and Jayden Wierenga, Joseph Van Baren, and Kaden Anderson; sisters, Gertrude VanDenTop of Doon, Iowa, Marie and Jack Van Dam of Chandler, Minnesota; brothers, Leonard Van Bemmel; Alvin and Wilma Van Bemmel all of Doon, Iowa, Marion and Carol Van Bemmel of Steen, Minnesota; aunts, Kate Groendyk, Grace Steensma; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Wielenga, Tillie Van Voorst, and Lyda Tamminga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gertie Van Bemmel; infant brother, Henry; brother-in-law, John VanDenTop; sister-in-law, Ruth Van Bemmel; parents-in-law, Peter and Lyda Wielenga; sister-in-law; and 3 brothers-in-law.
