Sioux Center News, November 22, 1962

Funeral services were held at the Cooperative Funeral Service, Little Chapel here at 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., Saturday for Kryn Louwerse, 77, resident of Sioux Center from 1915 until 1945, and a resident of Orange City the past 11 years, and also two years in Sioux Center, who died at the Orange City hospital November 15 following an illness.

Services were conducted by the Rev. C. Hegeman, pastor of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center, and burial was made in the Sioux Center cemetery. A brief service was held at the funeral home preceding the service at the church.

Mr. Louwerse was born in Holland on March 9, 1885, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Peter J. Louwerse. He attended school and grew to young manhood in Holland and was married to Marie Keivet at Aagtekerte, February 2, 1910. The following month they came to American and settled at Corsica, SD, where they lived for four years prior to moving to Sioux Center in 1914. After 31 years residence here they moved in 1945 to Orange City where they have made their home.

Survivors include four sons, John of Hawarden, Marinus of Sioux Center, Abraham of Decatur, Ill, and James of Cocoa, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Schelling and Mrs. Herman Klein, both of Cypress, CA, and 29 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

His parents and Mrs. Louwerse and two sons, Kryn, Jr., and Peter preceded him in death.
