The death of Gordon Byron Hurlburt, who spent some years of his life in this county, occurred Oct. 14, at Lake City, Iowa. He was born Feb. 25, 1826, in Wyoming county, New York, but came with his father's family to Wisconsin in 1843, and lived many years in that state. He never married, and the last years of his long life were spent in the homes of some of his nephews and nieces.

His body was brought to Ireton last Friday funeral services conducted by Dr. Jackson, of the United Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. Whitaker, of the Presbyterian church, were held Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Satterlee, and the interment was in the Ireton cemetery. Mr. Hurlburt was an uncle of Mr. Byron Peebles, Mrs. E. R. Day and Mrs. J. W. Satterlee of
Ireton.
