Died: April 4, 1996 Rock Valley, IowaJennie Vugteveen. 90, of Rock Valley died Thursday. April 4 at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
The funeral service was at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley on Monday April 8. Officiating were the Rev. C. Eric Fennema, the Rev. Joe Vugteveen and the Rev. Eliot Vander Lugt.
Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Vugteveen was born on December 31, 1905, at Hull, the daughter of Anton and Marie (Ten Brink) Ten Harmsel.
She married Cornelius "Case" Vugteveen on September 8. 1932, on Jennie's parents' farm near Sioux Center. Together they farmed near Hull until they retired and moved to Rock Valley on June 30, 1964.
Her husband died on March 25, 1965. She moved to Valley Manor in October 1991. She was a member of the Martha Circle at First Christian Reformed Church.
Surviving relatives Include one son and his wife, Harold and Mary Vugteveen of Milford; four daughters and their husbands, Betty and Jim Vander Schaaf of Orange City. Marlene and Joe Vugteveen of Wyckoff. New Jersey, Joyce Vugteveen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Annetta and Al Vander Lugt of Grand Rapids; four sisters and their husbands, Minnie and Hank Meyer of Jenison, Michigan, Johanna Ten Harmsel of Grand Rapids, Marie and Ernest Gerritsma of Sioux Center and Henrietta Ten Harmsel of Grand Rapids; three sisters-in-law, Dena Ten Harmsel of Grand Rapids, Irene Houtkooper of Sioux Center and Harriet Vugteveen of Valley Springs, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Brian Vander Schaaf; one sister; and four brothers.
