Died: June 29, 2007Armelilda Stoffer, 91, died Friday, June 29, 2007 in Hayward, California. Memorial services were in Castro Valley, California on July 5. Graveside services were on July 6, at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward.
Armilda Stoffer was born in Ireton, on February 15, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Johnson) Vlotho. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Ireton.
After graduating from Ireton High School in 1934, she drove her Aunt Veronia Salberg back to California. She returned to Ireton after the death of her father in 1941, and stayed with her mother for two years. In July of 1943 she began working for Leach Relay in Los Angeles. She also worked for Packard Bell, House of Progression, Hoffman Radio and Hughes Aircraft.
On July 28, 1951, she was wed to George Douglas Stoffer at Grace Lutheran Church in Los Angeles. They made their home in Oakland. In 1953, they adopted their son, Robert Gregory Stoffer, and lived in San Leandro. In 1963 they moved to Castro Valley until 1994, moving back to San Leandro.
She was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church of Castro Valley. She helped with the annual Women’s Yard Sale.
Survivors include her son Robert; nephews, Rodney Vlotho, Emery Vlotho, Jr. nieces, Jan Cain and Cynthia Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; and brothers.
