Wendell E. Adams, 66, of Hawarden died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1985, at his residence in Hawarden.
Services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Edmund Adams officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home. Pallbearers were David Schiefen Todd Smith, Terry Smith, Josh Adams, John Burke and Tom Sorensen.

Mr. Adams was born July 10, 1918 at Beresford, SD, and graduated from Wakonda, SD, High School in 1936. He married Erma Smith Aug. 19, 1940 at Hawarden. They farmed in Union County, SD. He was employed by the Sioux Falls, SD, stockyards for 20 years. He became medically disabled in 1971 and they moved to Hawarden in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Kathy) Smith of Alpena, SD; three sons, Ronald of Saudia Arabia, Steven of South Sioux City and Patrick of Hawarden; three sisters, Dorothy Falon and Betty Sorensen, both of Sioux Falls and Geraldine Shenkle of Inglewood, FL; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
