Mrs. Ellis (LaVon) Wood, 91, of Hawarden, died Monday, Jan. 28, 1985, in the hospital at Hawarden. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Associated Church. The Rev. Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Glenn Olsen, B. N. Brown, Scott Younie, Taylor Flynn, Ray Rummel and Duane Aldrich.

Mrs. Wood, the former May LaVon Richards, was born April 24,1893, in Le Mars. She lived in Hawarden the last 87 years. She married Ellis Wood Jan. 3,1914 in Hawarden. He died June 23,1964. She was a member of the Associated Church, the Entre Nous Organization, the Women's Club dnd the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry and George, both of Hawarden, and Warren of Naperville, 1L; two daughters, Margaret Lichty of Carleton, NE, and Mrs. Richard (Gwendolyn) Gant of Danville, CA; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
