Mrs. Duane (Betty) Witt, 51, of Harden, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 1985 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden with the Rev. Dwight Rengstorf officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden Pallbearers were Kurt Bultman, Kent Bultman, Jeff Eilts, Paul Eilts, Gary Witt and Darwin Bockelman.

Mrs. Witt, formerly Betty Joan Newman, was born Jan. 6, 1934, near Akron. She lived with her family in the Ireton area and then moved to Tennessee, where she lived from 1941 to 1946. In 1946, she returned to Hawarden, where she graduated from high school in 1952. She married Duane Witt on June 22, 1952, in Hawarden. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the church, the church auxiliary and the Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Lanny (Cindy) Pick of Salix, and Amy of Sioux Falls, SD; three sons, Mark, Randy and Jason, all of Hawarden; her mother, Hazel Newman of Hawarden; one brother, Keith Newman of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Neva) Bean of Salix, Elizabeth Haddican of Hawarden; and four grandchildren.
