Mrs. Luella Rens, age 81, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007, at her residence.
There will be a funeral service on Thursday, May 3, at 10:30am, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Heilman and the Rev. Paul Bakker will officiate. Interment will be at the Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland, Michigan, on Friday, May 4. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Luella Verna was born on September 3, 1925, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry William and Lillian Gertrude (LaHuis) Pyle. She graduated from Hope College in Holland, and became a school teacher.

On August 7, 1948, she married Harold Leonard Kammeraad, in Holland. She continued to teach for a short time and then became a full-time homemaker and pastor's wife. The Rev. and Mrs. Kammeraad served several churches, including the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. He passed away on August 6, 1981, in Little Rock.

On December 26, 1990, she married Reyer L. Rens in Little Rock. They made their home at Orange City. "Roy" passed away on October 5, 1999, in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Mrs. Rens was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church. She was active in the church, including participating in Coffee Break and being an Evangelism Prayer Partner. She was also involved in Bible studies for prisoners and in THEOS. In earlier years, she gave piano lessons and accompanied singers. She was currently the organizer of the Orange City Dinner Date program, and she was a faithful visitor to shut-ins.

Survivors include three sons, William Kammeraad, of Holyoke, Massachusetts; Robert Kammeraad, and his wife, Kathleen, of Gilford, New Hampshire; and Gary Kammeraad, and his wife, Natalie, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; a step-son and his wife, Jacob and Sharon Rens, of Boring, Oregon; five step-daughters and their husbands, Grace and Dick Thomas, of Pella, Iowa; Margaret and Bob Schelling, of Orange City; Barbara and Paul Bettes, of Sparta, Michigan; Ruth and Ned Weitgenant, of Hills, Minnesota; and Carol and Jeff De Young, of Chenango Forks, New York; a step-son-in-law, Gordon Nyhof, of Gresham, Oregon; a grandson, Joshua; seventeen step-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Troast, of New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Alice Van Dyke, of Wisconsin; and nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kammeraad; a step-daughter, Brendine Nyhof; and a brother, Wendell "Bud" Pyle.
