Hawarden, Iowa Randel R. Ballard,58, of Hawarden died Saturday at a Minneapolis hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Arthur J. DeNeul will officiate. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.,. Tuesday at Dow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ballard was born Sep 12, 1920, in Bonifay, FL. He married Viola Shriner May 12, 1946, in Springfield MO. They lived in Columbus GA, until moving to Hawarden in 1956 where Mr. Ballard was an auto mechanic.

He served in the army as a paratrooper in WWII and was a member of Bergstrom Bodeen Post 128 American Legion in Hudson SD, and the Hoeschler American Legion Post in Akron. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry Judy Klemme of Hawarden; a son, Randy of Hawarden; two brothers, Curtis of Bonifay and William of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin Martha Gros of Marrero LA, and Mrs. Veta Collins of Columbus GA, and six grandchildren.
