From the Rock Valley Bee, July 1, 1910:

Word was received here Wednesday of the death of Mrs. C. E. Heinsen who died Tuesday [June 28] in the hospital in Sioux city. Her illness was of short duration. She was taken to the hospital for an operation from which she did not recover. The Heinsens formerly lived in Rock Valley and conducted a restaurant here. Mr. Heinsen was also a grain buyer at this place. Their friends will regret to learn this sad news. Funeral services will be held at Sanborn Friday. Some of their friends from Rock Valley are planning to attend.

The July 8, 1910, edition of the Rock Valley Bee published resolutions of respect from Rock Valley Lodge 496, I.O.O.F.; Gem Rebekah Lodge No. 247 of Rock Valley; and Jerry Rusk W.R.C. No. 282. They give her name as Elizabeth Heinsen.

From the Alton Democrat, July 9, 1910:

Word was received here last week that Mrs. Clarence E. Heinsen--who formerly was a resident of Rock Valley and was engaged with her husband in the restaurant business here and later moved to Sanborn--died June twentyeighth at one of the hospitals in Sioux City after an operation for abcess of the stomach. Her funeral occurred Friday of last week at Sanborn and several of the members of the Gem lodge, Daughters of Rebecca of which she was a respected member--attended the funeral. Mrs. Heinsen was a woman of amiable disposition, courteous and kind to others. Her example is worthy of emulation. We cherish fond remembrance of her and extend sympathy to the bereaved family.

Iowa Cemetery Records 1662-1999 on Ancestry.com show her as Elizabeth J. Heinsen, born 10 April 1880, died 28 June 1910, age 30, buried in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, Block D, Lot 3, Mrs. Clarence E.

The FindaGrave Index repeats this information and shows a daughter, Esther Margaret Heinsen Greene (1900-1986).

The 1900 U.S. federal census shows Clarence E. Heinsen (born April 1877 in Iowa, age 23, father born Scotland, mother born Illinois, a drayman), wife Elizabeth (born April 1880 in Iowa, age 20, parents born England), and daughter Ester, age 3 months. They are living next door to Clarence's presumed parents, Robert (48, born Scotland) and Fanny (49, born Illinois) and three siblings.
