Jessica "Jess" Mulder, 86, of Rock Valley died Monday, December 17, at Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Mike Van Hamersveld officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs, Mulder was born August 13, 1915, near Sioux Center, the daughter of Richard and Dena (Van Putten) Dykstra. The family moved to Rock Valley, where she graduated from Rock Valley, High School in 1933. She taught country school until her marriage to Clarence Mulder on June 22, 1937, in Rock Valley.

The couple lived in Rock Valley, where she was a bookkeeper for Mulder Oil Company. He died November 27, 1990. She moved to Divine Providence Health Center in Ivanhoe on April 7, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Richard and his wife Ruth Mulder of Ivanhoe and Clair Mulder of Rock Valley; a daughter and her husband, Judi and Siebert Dorhout of Rock Valley; a brother and his wife, John and Marty Dykstra of Rock Valley; a sister, Joan Kooiker of Middleburg; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Bill and Eva Dykstra; a sister, Edna Vander Sanden; and five infant siblings.
