Myra Requa, 97 of Sioux Center died Sunday October 26, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility.

A Memorial service was Wed. at 11 a.m. at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment will be prior to the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Requa was born June 2, 1906 to L. M. and Mattie (Owens) Hasbrouck in New York City. She was raised in New York City and Closter New Jersey. She married Lloyd F. Requa on June 7, 1930 in Dumont, NJ. The couple were blessed with a daughter they named Marnette. They made their home in Closter, where she was employed for several years as a bookkeeper and personal secretary at an accounting firm. After retiring in 1966 they settled in Sioux Center to be near their daughter and family. While in Sioux Center she was an active member of Central Reformed Church. She participated in Missionary Circle and attended a Women's Sunday School class for several years.

After her husband's death on Jan. 26, 1974 Myra continued to live in their home until becoming one of the original inhabitants of The Regency. She lived independently until her health required her to become a resident of the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility in October of 2001.

Throughout her life she had a talent for growing flowers and enjoyed admiring the beauty of God's creation. She also fashioned beautiful handwork.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Marnette "Marty" and Bruce Ver Hoef of Sioux Center; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her dear sister, Velma Hasbrouck.
