Funeral services for Mrs. Berdena Ravenhorst, age 83, of Clear Lake, SD, will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2006 in the Hamlin Reformed Church, rural Castlewood, SD. Rev. Carl Van Voorest will officiate. Mrs. Ravenhorst passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006 in the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Berdena was the widow of Mr. John Ravenhorst.

Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob Walker, Lloyd Sikkink, Newell Ordal, Deuel County Good Samaritan Staff and the Deuel County Memorial Hospital Nursing Staff. Active pallbearers will be: Ron Vander Brink, Dave Vander Brink, Bob Wobbema, Cornie Blom, Alvin Henderschiedt and Steve Kruiter.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2006 in the Houseman-Eng Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Berdena Ravenhorst was born on November 3, 1923 to Bert and Jane (Koel) Kamerman in Sioux Center, Iowa where she was raised and attended school.

On September 28, 1955, Berdena was united in marriage to John Ravenhorst in Sioux Center, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Clear Lake, South Dakota for 53 years. On May 11, 1981, John passed away. Berdena continued to live on the farm until the early 1990's when she moved in to Clear Lake, SD. In December of 2004, she entered the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake, SD. Berdena passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006 in the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 83 year and 6 days.

Berdena was a faithful member of the Hamlin Reformed Church where she was active in the Women's Bible Study Group (Circle) for many years. She enjoyed canning, baking, gardening, all flowers, word search puzzles and to knit and crochet. She also enjoyed going to her card club. Berdena especially enjoyed being on the farm.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Dorus Ravenhorst, Clear Lake, SD; sister, Arlene (Joe) Vander Brink, Rock Valley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Berdena was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents and one sister, Coba Zevenbergen.
