Mrs. Margaret Lubbers, age 87, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, July 20, at 11:00am, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Donald Lenderink and the Rev. Stanley Vandersall will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service on Friday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at the funeral home.

Margaret Josephine was born on November 18, 1919, at Alton, the daughter of Henry W. and Anna (Stronks) Jansen. She was raised on a farm south of Alton, where she attended a country school. In 1936, she graduated from the Alton High School, and as a young adult, she was employed in the Sioux County Court House.

On February 14, 1941, she married Raymond J. Lubbers at her parents' home. For forty years, they farmed near Newkirk, where she was a homemaker. In 1981, they retired into Orange City. For the past month, she has resided at the Long Term Care Facility.

Mrs. Lubbers was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where she participated in the Women's Ministries, a circle, and several other committees. She was also active in the Holland Township Homemakers Club of the Farm Bureau, and she volunteered at her church and the nursing homes in Orange City.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, "Ray"; three sons and their wives, Philip and Sherrill Lubbers, of Woodbine; Paul and Barbara Lubbers, of Orange City; and Gordon and Joslyn Lubbers, of Iowa Falls; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Nathan) Kenkel, of Newell; Maureen (Travis) Anderson, of Kearney, Missouri; Melanie (Adam) Pryor, of Woodbine; Jill Lubbers, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Lisa (Jess) Meekma, of Omaha, Nebraska; Megan (Rob) Mudd, of Ankeny; Amanda Lubbers (fiance' Jeff Martin), of Council Bluffs; Grant Lubbers, of Orange City; and David Lubbers, of Ames; eleven great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Kenkel; Kyla and Corbin Anderson; Wyatt, Layne, Brodyn, Jax, and Kathryn Pryor; Sophie Meekma; and Miles Mudd; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Jansen, of Alton; and Sylvia Lubbers, of Orange City; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Jansen; two sisters, Esther Scholten and Ruth Fennema; a great-granddaughter, Anna Maria Kenkel; and a grandson-in-law, Randy Francis.
