Robert L. Hofmeyer, 53, of Hospers died Wednesday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Friday in the Presbyterian Church in Hospers. The Rev. Dr. Stuart Schimpf officiated, the Hospers Funeral Service is in charge.

Mr. Hofmeyer was born July 12, 1930, at Hospers. He married Jolene Hoff June 13, 1952, at Hospers, He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was engaged in farming near Hospers.

He was a former member of Floyd Valley School Board, Presbyterian Session and Co-op Elevator Board.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steven of Hospers, Brian, Robbie and Brad, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Debra) Verhoef of Sanborn and Mrs. Don (Brenda) Truhe of Jefferson, S.D.; his father, Wesley Hofmeyer of Hospers; three brothers, Dean; Glen and Arvin, all of Hospers; one sister, Mrs. Alvin (Julie) Stuit of Hospers, and three grandchildren.
