Funeral services for Martha Hofmeyer, 92, of Sanborn were held Friday, April 29, 1983, at the First Reformed Church of Sanborn. The Rev. Gerald Osland officiated with burial at the cemetery in Hospers. Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hofmeyer passed away Tuesday, April 26, 1983.

Martha Boersma, daughter of Haarke and Winnie Boersma, was born in Hospers on August 28, 1890. She lived her youth, attended school and grew up in the Hospers area. She was united in marriage to Dick Hofmeyer of Hospers on February 10, 1910, at Hospers. After their marriage they farmed there and in the Matlock area. Mr. Hofmeyer passed away on October 8, 1941. Mrs. Hofmeyer moved to Sanborn in 1972 to live with her daughter Lucille. She entered the Prairie View Manor, Sanborn, in June 1979 and lived there until the time of her death.

She is survived by three children: Lucille Van Veldhuizen, Sanborn; Virgil Hofmeyer, Hartley; Eugene Hofmeyer, Sheldon; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
