David L. Hofmeyer, age 25, of Whitter, California, formerly of Orange City and Le Mars, passed away Monday, December 12 in Los Angeles, as a result of injuries received in a traffic accident involving two police cars.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 19 at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Don De Glopper and Sgt. Jerry Powell officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

David Lee was born January 29, 1963 at Lake City, the son of Ronald James Hofmeyer and Faye Ruth Hellenga Hofmeyer. In 1965 the Hofmeyer moved to Le Mars, and in 1978 they moved to Orange City.

On December 28, 1983, David married Lynn Marie Rozeboom at Orange City. He graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City in May of 1985 and in September of that year he enrolled in the Los Angeles Police Academy. In March of 1986 he graduated from the Academy and became an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. He was currently with their Central Division.

He was a member of the Immanuel Reformed Church of Paramount, California.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn: parents of Orange City; grandmother, Anna Jean Hofmeyer of Hospers; two brothers, Jeff of Seattle, Washington, and Mike of Orange City; and a sister, Renee Harrison of La Verne, California.

Memorials are being directed to the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation to provide financial security for his wife and their expected child.
