Douwe Mulder Laid to Rest at Valley Saturday

Mr. Douwe Mulder, resident of Rock Valley and vicinity since 1905, died at his home last Thursday, April 6 at the age of 88 years after a few days' illness.

Mr. Mulder was born in the Netherlands in 1855. In 1876 he married Theda De Vries, and to this union four sons and two daughters were born. They came to this country in 1896 and settled in Orange City until 1905, then moving onto a farm near Rock Valley. A year later Mrs. Mulder passed away. In 1917 he moved into town and stayed with his three children until he passed away.

He is survived by his four sons and two daughters who are Art, Joe and Fannie at home, Ed Mulder of Elkton, S.D., Dr. Jacob Mulder of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Mrs. Gerrit Van Otterloo of Holland, Mich.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Reformed church Saturday, April 8, at 2 o'clock and at 1:30 at the house, Rev. Albert Wassink of Inwood officiating. Rev. Wassink is an old friend of the family. Pallbearers were Mr. Voetberg, Richard Vande Vegte, Bert Fikse, Henry Mulder, Henry Vugteveen and John De Wit.
