Funeral Services Are Held Tuesday For Bastiaan Schenk

Funeral services were held at thc Carmel Reformed church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, for Basitaan Schenk, 86, retired Sioux Center farmer, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Sunday of infirmities of old age. Services were conducted by the Rev. Gerald Heemstra and burial was made in the Carmel cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.

Mr. Schenk was born September 4, 1876, in The Netherlands. He came to Sioux Center in 1901 and resided on a farm north of town for the past 41 years.

Survivors include two sons Henry and Theodore, both of Sioux Center; two daughters, Miss Nellie Schenk and Mrs. Joel Dykstra of George, Ia, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, C. Schenk, of Bellflower, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina (Feekes) and one infant daughter
