Earl E. Schlumbohm, 87, of Hawarden died Friday April 15, 2005 at the Wakonda Heritage Manor in Wakonda, S. D. Funeral Service was April 18 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial followed in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Earl E. Schlumbohm was born Aug. 11, 1917 in Eagle Township, near Lebanon IA, the son of William and Maria (Moeller) Schlumbohm. He married Opal Dixon Feb 12, 1937 at the Methodist Parsonage in Hawarden. They farmed in Eagle Township until retiring from farming in 1963. They lived in Ireton for a few years before moving to Hawarden. Earl farmed with his son for a number of years and worked at Venard Chevrolet in Hawarden. He later was employed at Mc Carthy Implement and Lynott Implement. Earl also worked with Borchers Farm Supply. Opal died March 5, 2002.

He served for many years on the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Board and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his son, Daryl of rural Ireton, daughter Bonnie Paulson of Sturgis SD, a brother Eugene Schlumbohm of Hawarden; two sisters Bernice Williams of Hawarden and Betty Juffer of Ireton; six grandchildren and 11 Great grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Lyle and a sister Irene Loe.
