From the Sioux Center Nieuwsblad, August 15, 1906:

Onder Rock Valley is overladen L. Vogelaar. De begrafenis had Woensdag plaats van uit de Chr. Geref. Kerk, onder leiding van Ds. Heynen. Tegenwoordig waren: Teunis Vogelaar van Pella, de gebroeders Willem en Cornelis Vogelaar van Orange City en Wouter en Willem van Steenbergen, zwagers van den overladen.

Translation:
L. Vogelaar died under [south of?] Rock Valley. The funeral took place Wednesday from the Christian Reformed Church, led by Rev. Heynen. Present were: Teunis Vogelaar of Pella, the brothers Willem and Cornelis Vogelaar of Orange City and Wouter and Willem van Steenbergen, brothers in law of the deceased.

A brief note in the Rock Valley news section of the Sioux County Herald, August 15, 1906, says that he died of cancer. The Rock Valley Bee for this period is missing.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Vogelaar, Leenderd, b. 3 May 1843, d. 6 Aug 1906 father Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA. Also, Vogelaar, L. Mrs., b. 10 Oct. 1852, d. 9 Mar 1906 mother Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA.

The 1900 U.S. Census for Rock Township/Rock Valley has Lender Vogelaar (55, born Sept. 1844 in Holland, immigrated 1860, a farmer), wife Richie (53, born Oct. 1846 in Holland, immigrated 1872), sons Lender (17) and Gerrett (16), and daughters Katie (27), Bessie (12), Fornis[?] (10) and Minnie (8).
