Passed Away

The Bee was unable to get the particulars concerning the death and funeral of Mrs. L. Vogelaar last week. Mrs. Vogelaar died after a long illness of cancer. She was a lady past middle life, 59 years of age, and the mother of seven children, all grown. The funeral took place from the Christian Reformed church on Tuesday, Rev. Heynen officiating. The Bee joins in extending the bereaved ones sincere sympathy.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Vogelaar, L. Mrs., b. 10 Oct. 1852, d. 9 Mar 1906 mother Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA. Also Vogelaar, Leenderd, b. 3 May 1843, d. 6 Aug 1906 father Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA.

The 1900 U.S. Census for Rock Township/Rock Valley has Lender Vogelaar (55, born Sept. 1844 in Holland, immigrated 1860, a farmer), wife Richie (53, born Oct. 1846 in Holland, immigrated 1872), sons Lender (17) and Gerrett (16), and daughters Katie (27), Bessie (12), Fornis[?] (10) and Minnie (8).
